for ADAPTation to Climate Change
in a multi-level regional perspective
5 local public authorities with a total population of 3.5 million inhabitants (Metropolitan City of Venice, Union of Municipalities of Medio Brenta, Municipalities of Padua, Treviso and Vicenza) aiming at developing strategies according to a multilevel approach to territorial governance for adaptation to climate change.
The general objective of Veneto ADAPT - realized with the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the EC - is to produce and test knowledge-based tools and policies for a more climate-resilient Europe. The project aims at developing and testing a coherent approach for enhancing the regional capacity to respond to the impact of climate change, with focus on hydro-geological risk, through a networking initiative developed in the central Veneto conurbation (3,5 million inhabitants) among the territories of Metropolitan City of Venice and the Municipalities of of Padova, Vicenza, Treviso, Cadoneghe, Curtarolo, Vigodarzere.
The project started in July 2017 with the duration of 42 months.
The municipality of Padova is the project coordinator; the involved partners are: Association of Local Governments Coordinamento Agende 21 Locali Italiane, the Metropolitan City of Venice, the IUAV University of Venice, Sogesca, the municipality of Treviso, the Union of Municipalities of the Middle Brenta, the municipality of Vicenza.

The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to sustainable development and to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy, the 7th Union Environmental Action Programme and other relevant EU environment and climate strategies and plans.
